Lobaria pulmonaria, Cumbria (on trunk of oak) 7.4.2010
It has a characteristically-shaped fruticose thallus much of which stands proud from the tree bark. At this site it is closely associated with L. virens (q.v.). Locally very rare and found in ancient woodland.
The site is mainly for personal reference but anyone is also welcome to visit it. All photographs are subject to copyright and may not be reproduced without permission. Click on any for a larger image.
I am grateful to Mike Gosling for his help in identifying or confirming many of these species and also to Mike Porter and Bill Senior for additional assistance.
