Sphaerophorus globosus, Seathwaite, Cumbria (on tree trunk), 7.4.10
This species, S.globosus, is less tidy than S.fragilis, since the latter appears as if neatly mown, the lobes forming an even domed surface. S. globosus has the look and 'feel' of a tight ball of fine wire wool. This specimen was very small, less than 10mm in diameter.
